Like in Amelia's portrait,
JOEY was also huddled down in a corner trying to catch the last
warmth of the late afternoon sun. He is leaning on his calloused
wrists.
Joey was captured in the wild in 1963 and came to the Sacramento
Zoo in 1967. Over the years he and Sam traded off being the dominant
male. In 2003, a platform collapsed under Joey causing him to fall
and break his leg. He was separated from the group and treated.
By the time he returned, Pablo had assumed the dominant position.
Species: Pan troglodytes
Painting is 24"x 30".
Completed in 2002. |
