AMY was born at Oakland's Knowland Park Zoo. Her parents
are Larry and Abigail. She loves her blanket. I would watch in wonder
as she climbed up and down the ropes of her enclosure with the blanket
over her head, unable to see. During colder times, or if the ground
was wet, she would wrap herself in her blanket and waddle from one
area to another looking to all the world like E.T.
She has matured a bit since I did this painting. Like most chimpanzees
when they get older, her face color has darkened but she still has
what I would consider a classic face.
Species: Pan troglodytes
Painting is 22"x 28".
